About us

Columcille is a day support service in the Morningside area of Edinburgh supporting adults with learning disabilities participate in creative activities in a community setting.

What we offer

We work with different hand crafts, performance activities and individual therapies, as well as helping individuals access resources in the wider community.

Outcomes

Outcomes that individuals achieve at Columcille include:

  • improved confidence and self-esteem
  • learning new skills
  • seeing people
  • maintaining and enhancing physical and mental health
  • feeling valued
  • feeling safe and well supported

Our structure

Our structure provides purpose, rhythm, and a community to belong to.

We are responsive to changing needs, providing some support in the community.

Most people attend part-time, mixing Columcille with other activities.

Our values

Our values have their roots in some of the ideas of Rudolf Steiner – what it means to be a human being and to develop.

We uphold the dignity of each person through a fundamental respect for the uniqueness of each individual.

Our support is relationship-centred, based on listening, empathy and presence. We aim to enable the greatest possible independence and self-determination for each person.

Opening hours

We are open Monday to Friday 9.00 – 4.00 (3.00pm Wednesday).

We welcome people aged 18 and over to our service and can meet the needs of a wide range of individuals.
